A garage door is the largest moving object in your home and can be very dangerous if not properly used. When it comes to garage door safety, you can never be too careful. Regular DIY inspections, maintenance, professional installation and of course following safety rules are imperative for accident prevention.
In the spring and summer, families tend to use their garage more, the kids coming and going with their bikes, or homeowners getting out gardening equipment and tending to the yard. The garage door traffic seems to increase in these hot summer months. So don’t break a sweat try to keep cool, calm and collected with these safety tips in mind!
1. Always keep the garage door remote controls and openers away from small children. These are not toys!
2. Install the wall opener button at least 5 feet off the ground, out of reach from curious children.
3. Keep fingers and hands away from panels, joints, and all moving parts because a child could lose limb or get seriously injured by one of them.
